Is Laughter Yoga a real thing?
Laughter yoga, is where we combine movement and breathing exercises as we deliberately (instead of spontaneously) laugh. Practitioners of laughter yoga will soon come to see that laughing intentionally can provide the same benefits to those of spontaneous laughter (as in laughing at a joke). Your nervous system cannot tell the difference between the two! This practice can be a remedy for physical, psychological, and spiritual ailments as it releases endorphins and “happy” hormones like dopamine and serotonin.
Though laughing therapy has been used for decades, laughing yoga was discovered by Dr. Madan Kataria, a family physician in Mumbai, India, in 1995.
